A womenswear designer who enjoys a challenge. Has experience of designing childrenswear and hope to one day create a collection. Would also love the opportunity to work on menswear projects. Mostly creates commercial designs but also enjoys working on more conceptual pieces. Also interested in print design and has produced a few pieces so far for clients. This is an area she would like to build on.

A confident and competent designer with a good ability to develop creative designs in an innovative way and a good understanding of the past to the present fashion developments. Adept at pattern cutting and sewing, particularly with 3D draping, creating shapes on the body and creating dramatic silhouettes from basic blocks. Excellent presentation skills.

Kate Ward, who is from Leeds, is a recent graduate from Leeds University with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion Design. After high school, Kate spent her gap year working and spent a month in Paris with French and speaks French to A-Level standard.

Becoming a fashion student at Leeds University in 2002, her graduate collection 'Devenir en Gris' used cotton jersey and felt to explore ideas about architecture, drapery and the concept of the Void. The collection used subtle colours, and tones of grey, inspired by the work of architect Daniel Libeskind and artist Aurelie Nemours to create womenswear for intellectual individuals.
