Trends Spring/Summer 2007

Colours

· Acid Brights
· Black & White
· Block
· Fuchsia
· Neutrals
· Purples
· Yellow

On one end of the spectrum of colours for spring summer 2007 we have the acid colours in yellow, fuchsia, orange, gold and silver. Dolce & Gabbana collection was a riot of main colour deep purple, dark green and gold. Fendi chose sheer fuchsia skirts and jackets accompanied with black. Satiny reflections seemed all the range as acid brights seem to work with this type of fabric type. The designer Future classics were one of the few designers who chose a mixture of prints for their acid colours choosing fuchsia and orange/tangerine. Again the combination of colours tangerine/orange and fuchsia seemed to be used. Gaultier opted for jewel colour tones of deep turquoise and candy and acid pinks and lime greens. Again reflective fabrics were used. Jewels pastel sweetie shop pastel colours such as deep lemon, violet, Lime green and raspberry were teamed together at Kane in baby doll type dresses with frills.

The Pucci collection was a riot of beautiful prints again with mauve/tangerine/orange and accents of black. Beautiful prints. Pucci have also concentrated on the block colour of fuchsia in floaty, short, chiffony baby doll designs. Dresses both long and short with sleek, simple lines. Pucci have also concentrated on using the block colour of Tangerine alone for some of their collection pieces. Again the main theme again running through this third collection was the use of tangerine/orange and fuchsia together. These colours work together very well. Pucci have also used light emerald green and cobalt blue. Colours such as Fuchsia, cobalt blue, emerald green, gold, deep candy pink, purple and lime green were the block colours of choice.

Colour winners: Fuchsia, Fuchsia and orange/tangerine, cobalt blue, lime green, emerald green, gold, deep candy pink.

Acid Brights

Every shade of purple from the lightest lilac to deep glossy satiny purples from Dolce & Gabanna. Citrusy colours such as tangerine and yellow to lemon.

Neutrals

Black and white is never going to go away! And it shouldn't because it's like coffee and cream. You can have one without the other, but they work together so well.. Designs in black and white were used for the more formal attire, such as short shorts teamed with sheer black/cream or white blouses teamed with a huge pussy bow tie scarves. Polka Dots and Polka squares were in abundance as pattern.

Light and dark greys, beiges, white and cream were in evidence. As is black and white there will always be neutrals. Again classic silhouettes used

Give Me Details!

Embellishment, embellishment, embellishment! Sparkle! Sparkle! Sparkle! There is still a lot of love for crystal embellishment. Crystal is on shoes, necklaces, handbags, scarves, dresses, skirts, hems everything! Crystal is used as intricate beading beadwork and takes the place of sequins. For one crystal is the more upmarket counterpart of Sequins.

Watch out for: Crystal on tights - something to upgrade a boring wardrobe staple.

We said that sequins were the poor sister to crystal, however they are still being used. Chanel used large sequins on a white blousy blouse that worked teamed with short black sequined shorts and sequined belts teamed with matching black sequinned blouses. Sequinned shift tube dresses teamed with sheer chiffon black shirts.

Chanel, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana being the main proponents of the beaded looks. We are absolutely loving Dolce & Gabbana, full beaded deep lilac short tunic dress and sequined bustier tops flared at the hip. We also like the short full beaded grey sequined tunic with blue sequin diagonal stripes.

Dolce & Gabbana have gone all out with their fully sequinned long dresses in acid based colours of fuchsia, Lilac, gold and cobalt blue tones. They are works of wearable art.

We love the way Pucci have teamed their iconic prints with sequins. Beautiful.

The volume silhouette of Autumn/Winter 2006 is still reminiscent in sleeves. Sleeves veer from batwing, bell bottom, puffed, short, and ¾ length.

Stripes are in evidence and the nautical look is still in evidence.

Waisting/hourglass is key and how waists are shown is key. Belts ride either well above the waist or below the waist. Big, very large thick belts are used to cinch in the waist with the main focus being on big, bad belts. Waists are used to accentuate the hour glass figure, wasp waisted with the help of thin, double, treble or very big single belts also teamed with very big hipped looks - hips are super acceuntaed with the wasp waist hour glass look. Even the more floaty diaphanous creations are waist and hourglass concentrated. Puffball skirts acceuntaed with a thin belt. Tulip style skirts,

Hourglass figures accentuated with the use of corsets ala Dolce and Gabbana.

Use of double and triple belts is key.
