Trends Spring/Summer 2006

After last years Sienna/Boho look it is now time for a more structured and classical look. White is a colour that will continue to be popular for Spring/Summer 2006. As more classical pieces take centre stage the the colour white will be used to emphasise the classical look of pieces such as the white shirt which has never really gone away.

That other classic colour black is out - instead of the little black dress read the little white dress for daytime and evening wear.

Trousers

Trousers are still in the skinny style so Jeans are still in the mix. In line with the more classical trend in clothing, wide trouser styles will also be key. Capri pants, longer length shorts, roll-up trousers also make an appearance.

Remember skorts from a few seasons back? Well they have somewhat faded but shorts are still going strong and make a reappearance in a more traditional cut and come from really short short shorts to the longer length Bermuda style shorts. Shorts are teamed up with white shirts and braces.

Skirts

Ladylike pencil skirts which also made an appearance last Autumn/Winter and knee length skirts follow the lady like classical theme.

The masculine look championed by Yves St Laurent in the late 70's early 80's makes another appearance with the classical trends of Spring/Summer sometimes showing a Victor/Victoria mannish touch hence the white shirts and tuxedo jackets.

Dresses

The dress again takes centre stage. Wrap, shirts, baby doll are some of the styles.

The little white dress is key this season and ranges from the more sleek silhoutte like the shift dress that reveal the feminine form are key to the more innocent looking lace/cotton dress that can be worn on its own or layered over jeans.

The wrap dress is still going strong and playing into the more classical theme of Spring/Summer 06 trends.

Accessories & Jewellery

Like last summer large sunglasses and statement piece jewellery and slouchy style bags which fit with the classical look nicely.

Footwear

Wedges have come back for another year and will be higher. Flat pumps are also key and will go especially well with Capri pants or trousers.
