EKTA JAIN
Ekta Jain's Spring/Summer 06 collection is inspired by the 'five senses' and is an encounter of intricate detail and bright colours. The collection is based on western styling and shapes using Indian silks and cottons in bright colours inspired by a land of various cultures. The intricate detail of smocking in some of the collection pieces is used to create a texture relating to the sense of 'touch'. The collection has been designed to appeal to customers who appreciate new ideas and a blend of cultures and offers design with an edge in the form of Indo-Western fashion by using intricate embroidery techniques and luxurious natural fabrics such as silk, cotton and linen combined with sophisticated styling. What Fashion Represents to Ekta Fashion represents society and culture. To me the basic concept of fashion 'self expression of an individual' is most important. Fashion is a representation of a distinctive style giving a summarising effect to personality and solves an artistic problem that is unique to the individual. Fashion doesn't dictate people, it is dictated by people. The colours, fabrics, textures and styling are all predicted as fashion trends based on socio-economical surveys. Attitudes, lifestyle, economy, personal preferences, environment all determine what will be most fashionable next season. Fashion reflects our likes and dislikes.
