Selling In Your Online Boutique

Q.Who are fashionfinders.co.uk?
A. Fashionfinders.co.uk is an online boutique stocking independent niche/limited edition collections. We also stock graduate final year collections which are true one-offs. Our remit is is source new designers and offer their fashion collections for sale in their own online boutiques. We offer a number of promotion tools such as the fashion designer directory, creatives directory, source directory, online look books and promotion services.

More Than A Boutique

Q. So fashionfinders.co.uk is more than an online boutique?
A. Right. Our approach is to offer a number of interlinked services which aim to satisfy one objective: to initially promote fashion designers and their work whether it be portfolios, press articles, CV's, fashion collections, show footage and show pictures as part of a promotional campaign in a number of ways online and later on offering fashion designers and other creatives within the fashion industry services that will also get them promoted off-line.

The services offered are designed to be used in a pick and mix style. You can build a capsule of services to promote your work work. All services offered by fashionfinders complement each other.

We offer a multifaceted service approach - there is a service for all fashion creatives based on the different stages of where they are in their careers.

Each service can be used on its own or in a combination mix allowing the use of a capsule approach to building an online interaction profile on www.fashionfinders.co.uk.

So a fashion designer can sell, showcase, advertise their skills, get a start on the stockist ladder, build a profile all on the same platform. Fashion photographers, stylists, make-up artists, fashion models, graphic artists can call showcase their work on the site.

Online Promotion & Marketing of Designers

Q. What is The Online Portfolio Service?
A. The FashionFinders Online Portfolio Promotion Service is designed for designers who want to place some of their images online. Designers are allowed to place up to 20images in their portfolio area. The portfolio area is accessible via the Fashion Designer Directory or Creative Directory.

Fashion designers, stylists, photographers, make-up artists, fashion models can also upload their CV's, a full designer profile, show pictures and/or footage and press articles in their directory listing. The Designer Profile drives the interest and determines whether your portfolio will be viewed by potential employers or clients.

Q. I don't want my work copied - What Does FashionFinders Do to Prevent This?
A. All portfolio images are encrypted before we upload them. This means that they cannot be downloaded, copied, printed, saved or emailed. Anyone accessing your work will of course be able to view your images backed up with your CV and Designer Profile and any press related articles generated around you.

All Portfolio, Show Pictures, Online Buyer's Look-Book images are encrypted so that they cannot be printed, saved, downloaded or copied.

Q. Isn't this all a bit Big Brother?
A. Some may think so, but we'd rather our designers know that at least we are being proactive in protecting their rightful copyright and the designer's ownership of images andcreative ideas and intellectual thought expressed as a creative work. We understand how much time and effort goes into the creation of a portfolio of work. However we are also aware that portfolios must be viewed within a safe environment.

Q. Are any of your services suitable for Graduates?
A. Yes although we do make a distinction between the services offered to more established designers and graduates who have left university one to three years ago.

As a graduate just starting out on the road to a career in fashion, online promotion can be used as part of a self promotion/marketing strategy. For example uploading a portfolio etc. allows any graduate or freelance fashion designer to use this as a reference point for the benefit of potential employers, contacts or clients to view your work.

Q. How would potential employers, contacts, clients find me?
A. By reading your online profile in the Fashion Designer or Creatives Directory. We also submit the site to a number of search engines as well as online and off-line advertising. We also alert press and buyers on our database about new talent. If a potential employer is interested in viewing your portfolio, CV, show pictures or online look-book they would contact you directly. For Online Look Books there is a password as they contain the current collections of designers. Passwords are given to trade buyers interested in purchasing a range for their stores.

Q. How Long Will it Take to Upload My Portfolio/Directory Listing?
A. We upload your portfolio as soon as we receive payment and your images. We also edit all images and make sure that they are web ready. We will inform you as soon as your portfolio has been encrypted and uploaded.

Q. How Long Will My Online Portfolio Stay on www.fashionfinders.co.uk?
A. For one year.

Building Your Brand Around Your Fashion Label

Q. What is Brand Building?
A. A brand encompasses and captures all that makes a fashion label what it is. It it sometime an intangible element but when harnessed and managed properly becomes tangible and something to build a reputation on.

For designers who have their own fashion label to promote and any subsequent collections designed under that label, building a brand in the right way will help your label get picked up and stocked by retail outlets.

Q. How can fashionfinders help with brand building?
A. There are three ways:

Online Boutique Set Up

Sell your label via your own online boutique. Also included is upload of a full designer profile, CV, show footage, show pictures and and any press articles about the designer or their label that the designer may have already received. We also include the creation of an online look-book for view by potential stockists of you label. The online look-book is encrypted and password protected.

FashionFinders remit is to stock niche and independent labels. If we provide a venue for your items to be purchased by our customers, this can be the first step in building up a stockist profile for your label.

Online Look Book

The online look book is for all fashion, jewellery, accessory, footwear designers who have a collection to market and sell to potential retail buyers.

PR Representation

For designers who are keen to build a media friendly profile for their label.

Q. What Does the Process Involve?
A. We work with designers who we feel have a distinctive and covetable label either to sell or promote. There is a selection process for the above three services - we meet with the designer and view the current collectiion.

Services for Graduates and New Designers

Q. What are the services available for fashion graduates and New Designers?
A. As well as the online portfolio and freelance listing services which are available to everyone, fashionfinders also offers specific services for Graduates and New Designers. We will be at Graduate Fashion Week 2005. If you are interested in the team viewing your collection or show please complete our online form and we will get back to you.

Online Boutique - Sell Your Graduate Collection

If you are a designer who has graduated within the last three years we provide an online platform for graduate designers to showcase and sell their final year collections to buyers interested in purchasing one-off originals. We also include a profile about you and any press information/releases about your work. You can also subscribe to the Fashion Designer Directory or Creative Directory.

Startup Package

We offer a number of consultation to designers wishing to investigate setting up their label. The service is a bespoke and research based service and there are a number of consultations offered with an information finding service. We do the research for you and report back to you our findings which is then utilised into an action plan for the designer. Designers can either choose to use the whole package or pick and mix from the modules available.

Promotion Package

Our introductory promotion service is for designers who now want to focus on getting their first forthcoming collection created and undertaking promotion for this. We have to believe that your label will be a success commercially and will have that covetable quality. .

Cost of Services

Q. Is there a charge for any of your services?
A. Yes there is a charge for some of our services. Our prices are competitive and start from £60 per year for the fashion designer directory or creative directory. Our remit is to offer promotional opportunities to independent/niche/emerging design talent so our pricing reflects this. Directory membership can includeupload of show footage, portfolio images, CV, full designer or creative profile, media images etc.
